Review by Author Kathleen L. Maher

Sword of the Matchmaker is a short, sweet, and fast paced romance of a reluctant knight and his bonny lady which will have you turning pages. Sir Thomas Godfrey is the Master-at-arms for Hawkwood Castle in England and for many years he has taken his job seriously. When a younger lass from a Highlands clan appears, claiming his late father owed her a favor, his curiosity piques. But her warrior demeanor tests his inclinations. Is she who she claims, or is there more to this proud, independent woman? Perchance the soft, kind heart of a true lady? He tells himself that he is too old and set in his ways to pursue anything further with this woman.

Penelope Beatty has run out of options. Her clansmen have all but been annihilated by rival clans, and her father has died, leaving her with something very valuable. Her only chance of protecting his legacy and her own life is to seek refuge with an Englishman who once owed her father a favor. But instead she meets the man's cheeky and proud son who will decide her fate in a foreign land.

When Brithwin, the playful but persistent lady of the manor plays Matchmaker, neither heart can withstand her persuasive ways or deny their feelings. But old habits die hard. Can a battle-seasoned lass accept this new master of her heart? And can a Master-at-arms make room to embrace a fiery lady his equal in both love and war?

Debbie Lynne writes with the same authenticity and compelling, action-packed narrative that made Sword of Forgiveness the bestseller it was. It was a treat to revisit the characters we fell in love with – –Lord Royce Warwick and Lady Brithwin, Sir Thomas, and the wonderful castle setting of Hawkwood. Add a feisty Scottish warrior lass to the mix and you have another captivating medieval romance to whet your appetite for the upcoming sequel about Royce's brother. But be forewarned, you will be most eager to get your hands on the next story in the Winds of Change series!

Penelope Beatty made up her mind long ago she would live and die a Scottish warrior not a wife. But when nearly all her clan is killed and she is betrayed, she loathes doing the unthinkable, but must seek the help of an Englishman who owed her father his life.

Thomas Godfrey never married, but when a Scottish warrior lass shows up needing his aid, he finds her both annoying and irresistible. But the last thing he wants is to marry a woman who fights alongside him. If he was going to marry—which he isn’t—it would be to a soft, submissive woman. But when the Lady Brithwin meets the Scottish lass, she’s sure she’s found the perfect match for Thomas and nothing is going to stop her from seeing a summer wedding.
