Mistletoe Memories by Carla Olson Gade ends December 9th

Where are you right now (LVR, DR, Bathroom) and what are you wearing? You have to tell the truth.
In my mother’s gathering room, looking out at the lake. I’m wearing jeans and my favorite sweater.

What is the funniest, strangest, or most interesting thing you have learned when doing research?
Where do I begin? I came across a cool abandoned site of a possible buried treasure in a place called Oak Island. I always like discovering little know pieces of history, especially in remote places.

What is something that very few people know about you?
I’ve been married twice to the same man. We are a put-back-together family!

What is your favorite material item that you own (examples: ipod, Gone with the Wind book, grandmother’s rocking chair)My laptop for certain, but it is a love/hate relationship. LOL

If you could live in any time period other than the one we live in, past or future,  when and where would that be and why? This is a tough one since my favorite time spans about two hundred years from the 18th – 19th centuries. I think I’d like to experience coming to America as an immigrant in the 18th century. It was such an adventure, perilous, yes, but what an experience it would be!

If you were writing a book about your life what would the title be?
Sun in her Shadows

What one novel did you read that made you want to be a part of the story?MaryLu Tyndall’s Redemption.

What is the biggest secret you ever kept (of course it can’t be a secret anymore)?
I’m a confidant to many and a keeper of a lot of secrets. Perhaps that I’m a novelist. . .

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?I think perhaps yodel into the great beyond in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Got caught by a hiker. If someone was looking in my direction they might have thought the sun was setting my face because it was so red!

Mistletoe Memories is a Christmas novella collection from Barbour. One of America’s earliest summer resorts began atop the majestically wooded Schooley’s Mountain where the mecca of chalybeate springs (or “magic water”) drew visitors from near and far. Eventually the magic water disappeared, but the memories remained. The four stories in MISTLETOE MEMORIES cover the almost 200 years after the house was built and center around a house that became a refuge … that became an orphanage … that became a home.

’Tis the Season by Carla Olson Gade
In 1820, Stephan Yost, resident carpenter of Schooley’s Mountain, New Jersey’s fashionable resort, spends off-season working on repairs, renovations, and constructing new buildings. When he is hired to build a permanent home for the resort's physician and his spirited daughter, Annaliese Braun, in time for Christmas, Stephan finds himself enamored by the precocious spinster. But will he be able to compete for her affections against the advances of a manipulative iron baron?
